Open Bank of Mathematical Problems

During the APEC Conference last February 13-16, 2014 in Tokyo, I attended a lecture of Prof. Ivan Vysotsky of Moscow Institute of Open Education (Russia). One interesting website he presented was the International Open Bank of Mathematical Problems.

Basically, country members of the website can upload mathematics questions which can then be used by other member countries or translated to their own language. The website is basically new and during his lecture, Prof. Vysotsky was inviting for collaborators. You can visit the website and see the contact page if you are interested.

Currently, the website is available in English, Russian, French, German and Chinese.

The MATHCOUNTS Math Video Challenge

I have learned recently from one of the comments in my blog that the MathCounts is conducting a math video-making competition. The name of the contest is the Math Video Challenge where students choose a problem to be solved and create a video about it. The video can be submitted MathCounts.

The finalists, according to the MathCounts website, will present their videos in the 2014 Raytheon MATHCOUNTS National Competition. The winner will receive a scholarship.

The MathCounts Math Video challenge is currently on its third year.

For those who are interested to join, you can check out the Quick Start Guide or visit the MathCounts Video Challenge page.
