iPad App: Scan Documents into PDF with Genius Scan

Genius Scan is very handy app I discovered recently while scanning documents.  It allows you to take a photo of a document and export them as JPEG or PDF files. What makes Genius Scan better than other apps is its ability to detect edges and its perspective correction.  This can be useful for teachers or students who want to scan pages of books and read them on their iPads.

Once you take a photo, the app detects the page frame, crops it, correct its persective, and remove unnecessary background. This means that you don’t need a perfect straight shot. In addition, you can also adjust the corners and borders of the frame.

genius scan

Genius Scan allows scanned images to be emailed as a JPG or PDF file. It allows export to Box, Dropbox, Evernote, Expensify, Facebook, Google Drive, OneDrive, OneNote, Twitter, and many others.

Genius scan is also available as an iPhone app and an iPod Touch app.

Video: Is mathematics discovered or invented?

If there’s a number of trees in a forest, and there’s no one there to count them, does that number exist? This is the same question as the existence of mathematics. Is mathematics discovered or invented? If human beings do not exist, would mathematics still exist?

Watch the video from TED as Jeff Dekofsky traces the history of this famous classic question and how mathematicians throughout history think about it.
