Happy Pi Day 2013

It’s March 14 (3.14) and its Pi Day.

Pi Day is an annual celebration of \pi the most popular mathematical constant. Larry Shaw of San Francisco Exploratorium led the first large celebration of Pi Day in 1988, and since then it has spread all  over the world.

The Musical Beauty of Tau

Recently, there is a movement of giving attention to tau  (\tau), a mathematical constant which is approximately 6.28 or exactly 2 \pi. I want to write about it, but I am quite tired now, so maybe, I’ll write about it later. For now, join me and let us listen to the beautiful music of \tau, a musical interpretation of the constant’s digits.

The piece was performed by “Pi Song” musician Michael Blake.
