Graph Online with Graph.tk

If you want to construct graphs online, you may want to check out Graph.tk. What is attractive about  Graph.tk is that it’s very easy and fast to use.

All you have to do is to click the “+” sign located at the upper right of your window and type the equation. You can also show/hide the graph using the check box at the left of each equation and delete the graph using the “x” button at the right of the equation.

Graph.tk is capable of plotting Cartiesian and polar graphs. It is also capable of graphing inequalities.

The OpenOffice Calc Tutorial Series

OpenOffice Calc is one of the software in the OpenOffice.org application suite. Calc is a spreadsheet which is very similar to Microsoft Office’s Excel; in fact, most of the formula and function commands are the same.  In this series, we learn the basics of Calc and explore ways to integrate it in teaching and learning mathematics.  Below are the the list of tentative topics that we will discuss:

Math Curriculum Makeover

The following video is Dan Meyer’s talk  brilliant talk about mathematics teaching — math problem solving in particular.  Dan focuses on “reconstructing” ordinary textbook problems so that they  become more interesting and would elicit rich class discussion.  Dan also discusses the characteristics of good problems.
