How to Write the Degree Sign in Latex

I received a number of emails asking how to write the degree sign in Latex, so I have decided to include it as a short post. To write the degree sign in Latex, you have to place the \circ command in the exponent of the angle measure. The command for 180 degrees is

180^\circ.

This code results to 180^\circ.
