Geometer’s Sketchpad Sketches at Sketch Exchange

Before I became a GeoGebra user, I used The Geometer’s Sketchpad. I migrated to GeoGebra because aside from it is free, it is more friendly to students. Geometer’s Sketchpad requires a little mathematical maturity and knowledge of geometric constructions. I still like Geometer’s Sketchpad,  GeoGebra is getting and better.

Last month, I have shared to you more than 12000 free dynamic applets from GeoGebraTube and more than a year ago, I have also mentioned more than 7000 demonstrations from Wolfram. To add to the list of dynamic geometry resources, The Geometer’s Sketchpad has also created its library of “sketches” in Sketch Exchange.  Sketch Exchange as of this writing has more than 500 sketches available.  Just like GeoGebraTube and Wolfram Demonstrations, it is a place where GSP users can share sketches, tips, and tutorials.

Most of the sketches in Sketch Exchange requires Geometer’s Sketchpad 5.05, a free upgrade if you have Sketchpad 5.

It is an Honor to be a GeoGebra Ambassador

GeoGebra has recently awarded the title of GeoGebra Ambassador to individuals who have helped popularized the software. I am honored to be one of the chosen ambassadors.

I have been blogging about GeoGebra for quite a long time. I have created more than 50 tutorials in beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. I have created another blog titled GeoGebra Applet Central where I have collected applets since I started using the software.

Here in the Philippines, I am currently a teacher trainer in UP NISMED. UP NISMED is the host Institute of the GeoGebra Institute of Metro Manila, our local GeoGebra Institute. Since 2005, we have been integrating GeoGebra in teacher trainings and curriculum materials development.

Sanjay Gulati (India), and Steve Phelps (USA) of the GeoGebra Institute of Ohio were the other two GeoGebra Ambassadors. I’m sure more people will be awarded.

Thank you GeoGebra!

GeoGebraTube: More than 12000 applets and counting

GeoGebraTube, the official applet repository site of GeoGebra, has now more than 12000 GeoGebra applets after a year it has gone live — thanks to GeoGebraists all over the world.

Applets in GeoGebraTube can be downloaded (including the GGB file), embedded in blogs or websites, or shared to colleagues and friends using social media sites.

Recently, the site has also allowed Google, Facebook, and Twitter login making it even more accessible to a lot of users. Of course,  the old GeoGebra Forum login name and password can still be used.

Note: The image in this post is in my banner. This is probably a WordPress bug.
