TED-Ed’s Interactive Periodic Table

TED-Ed has recently created an interactive Periodic Table where you can view videos about every element. This project was a collaboration of TED-Ed and Brady Haran of Numberphile. Once you click the video, you can view experiments as well as explanations from experts and teachers about the element.

This is a must view for students taking Chemistry as well as Chemistry teachers.

iPad App: Scan Documents into PDF with Genius Scan

Genius Scan is very handy app I discovered recently while scanning documents.  It allows you to take a photo of a document and export them as JPEG or PDF files. What makes Genius Scan better than other apps is its ability to detect edges and its perspective correction.  This can be useful for teachers or students who want to scan pages of books and read them on their iPads.

Once you take a photo, the app detects the page frame, crops it, correct its persective, and remove unnecessary background. This means that you don’t need a perfect straight shot. In addition, you can also adjust the corners and borders of the frame.

Genius Scan allows scanned images to be emailed as a JPG or PDF file. It allows export to Box, Dropbox, Evernote, Expensify, Facebook, Google Drive, OneDrive, OneNote, Twitter, and many others.

Genius scan is also available as an iPhone app and an iPod Touch app.
