Compass and Straightedge Construction with Robocompass App

After introducing Primo, a new math game, I would also like to introduce Robocompass app, one of the latest online apps for compass and straightedge construction. It was only released three weeks ago.

Robocompass is an application that allows users to type commands and then turn those commands into an animated compass and straightedge construction. What is good about this application is that it has a 3d environment which allows the user to view the construction in any perspective. Constructions in Robocompass can be saved in Google drive and can be embedded in websites. Watch the introduction video and see the embedded file below.  » Read more

Socrative: A Student Response System

One of the new entries in Jane Hart’s Top 100 Tools for Learning for 2013 is Socrative, a free and online student response system.

In Socrative, a teacher may create a free account where he can create different types of questions – multiple choice, short answer, and trueーfalse. The teacher can then invite students to the virtual room where student can send their answers via computer, tablet or smart phone. The answers can be viewed by the teacher on a computer and can be projected to an electronic whiteboard. Student answers on multiple choice questions can be auto-graded.

Socrative has pre-designed “exit tickets” where teachers can use to collect student thoughts . In addition, it also generates reports that can viewed using Microsoft Excel or Google Spreadsheets.

The video below is a short introduction about Socrative.
